Step Into the Hundred Acre Wood with a 5″ x 7″ Silly Old Bear Ladder Card

There’s something timeless and heartwarming about the friendships found in the Hundred Acre Wood—and the new Stampin’ Up! Silly Old Bear Suite Collection captures that charm beautifully. Available as a May ONLINE Exclusive, this delightful collection is filled with whimsical imagery, storybook-inspired patterns, and nostalgic touches perfect for creating cards that celebrate friendship, encouragement, birthdays, and everyday kindness.

For this project, I created a 5″ x 7″ Ladder Card featuring layered woodland textures, dimensional medallions, and playful scenes using the Silly Old Bear 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. The result is a card that feels like opening the pages of a treasured childhood storybook.

Card Details & Features

The base card begins with:

Basic White Card Stock
Cut to 7″ x 10″
Use the PAPER TRIMMER to cut cardstock along the 7″ side, against the 5 1/4″ mark. Cut from 1″ to 7 1/2″. Slide the card stock over to the 1 3/4″ mark of the paper trimmer and cut from 1″ to 7 1/2″.
Score at and fold to create a finished 5″ x 7″ card base by laying the cardstock on the score board with the cut lines laying horizontal to the top measurements. Score only between the cut lines at 1 3/4″ to the 5 1/4″ at 1″, 2″, 3 1/2″, and 7 1/2″.
Score the entire piece of cardstock in half at 5″ mark. Fold in half.
Open the card and create the mountain, valley folds. Create crisp folds with a bone folder.
Decorate with pieces from the suite.
Use the Inspiring Canopy Dies (retired) with Mossy Meadow & Early Espresso cardstock for tree elements.

To create the ladder-style dimensional effect, I added multiple side panels using:

The embossed panels create incredible woodland texture that resembles tree bark, forest pathways, and rustic storybook scenery. These dimensional layers become the “steps” of the ladder card and provide beautiful depth when viewed from the side.

Storybook Medallions & Layered Scenes

One of my favorite details from the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper is the collection of illustrated medallion vignette designs. These can easily be cut apart and layered to create charming focal points throughout the project.

To frame and elevate the artwork, I paired the medallions with:

Sweet Words & Labels Dies

The layered labels and stitched details help spotlight each character scene while adding softness and elegance to the design.

The fun really begins when you start combining the images and sentiments to create little “storybook moments” throughout the card. Each panel becomes its own tiny scene celebrating friendship, laughter, and sweet memories.
