Every Chapter Stamp: Watercolor Pencil & Gilded Leafing Techniques

This project was inspired by a professional challenge from my dear friend Amy Salib from “Make Something INC” — a fellow demonstrator. While perusing through the catalog…we both looked at the stamp and said, “I know what I want to do with this one…”. We laughed and didn’t want to share our ideas but rather wanted to challenge each other. What is possible?

We both agreed to buy the EVERY CHAPTER stamp set and challenged each other to create a card –not showing each other the final result– until we posted the card in the mail to each other.

I was really challenged to create a unique project. Here is the card I posted to Amy last week. It is a layered project using the EVERY CHAPTER stamp as the center image and layers of accents/embellishments using the Layering Designs Vellum, Gilded Leafing, and Watercolor Pencil coloring. I have to be “kind” with myself because so often I can expect perfection. : )

While getting ready for my “GIVE A SMILE – ONE CARD AT A TIME…” project for the UNM Children’s Hospital — I was looking for easy projects to create bags and tags for the Pediatrics Ward for Valentines Day. I love re-purposing Paper Pumpkin elements for creating an alternative project. THIS PROJECT can be applied to any PP card project with envelopes that you may have stashed in your craft room.

It should also project motivation for why Paper Pumpkin subscriptions are GREAT ways to add to your crafting supplies.

1. Using a SU DIE CUT / EMBOSS MACHINE emboss the Basic White layer with the Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder
2. Punch out the Ladybug using the Basic Black & Real Red cardstock. Glue wings to body. Embellish with BLACK MAT Dots (three on each wing)
3. Die cut the THANKS using the Amazing Thanks Dies with the Basic White and Black Card Stock and adhere with either All Purpose Glue or using the All Purpose Adhesive Sheet on the BLACK card stock to adhere the letter to the Basic White cut out.

Quick & Easy Production Stamping to Create Wobble Cards using the Penguin Place Bundle

Create a STAINED GLASS Effect

HOW TO USE the Stampin’ Up!’s GREAT TIDINGS Cling Stamp Set with ink and Alcohol Marker coloring to create an elegant “stained glass” effect.

This technique features such Stampin’ Up! products as Memento Black ink, Stampin’ Blends (or any alcohol marker), VERSA Mark, and Clear Embossing Powder.

To assemble the card, layer the die-cut pieces on a fancy embossed Silver Foil Arch (embossed using the Dainty Diamonds 3D folder) and the 3D Textured “Time Worn Type” Black embossed layer on a Basic White card base. LAYERING INK and CLEAR EMBOSSING Technique for Depth & Dimension

Laying colors from either a fall or winter palette creates depth. Begin with the lightest color and then layer each additional.

Add VERSAMARK and CLEAR embossing powder to the stamped image to give you two professional effects. It pulls out vibrant colors from the ink as well as adds dimension to your stamped image. You can even apply two layers of Versamark to your stamped image (Holly Wreath example)

Use the steps from the video tutorial and apply them for making any of the featured examples for Fall Leaves, Evergreen, and Winter Holly wreaths.

I LOVE these little cats! So clever! And only $17! Here are some ways to utilize the CLEVER CATS stamp set. CLEVER CATS is a photopolymer stamp set that is perfect for simple stamping. I list “simple stamping” tips and techniques that are easy using stamping tools.

Simple Stamping TIPS & TECHNIQUES

One of the simplest stamping techniques I know to create clear and crisp images is to use MOMENTO BLACK ink and THEN use clear embossing powder to add an extra layer of texture.

This is where the STAMPARATUS really pays off as a stamping tool. By using your Stamparatus you are guaranteed perfectly stamped images AND then you can use it to stamp VERSAMARK for perfectly embossed images.

Create Simple Backgrounds

Another simple stamping technique is to use MINI-embossing folders on either side of your card layer for added interest for a background. Something different that breaks up the monotony of just a plain embossed layer. Yeah…never be afraid to mix it up!

SU’s mini EMBOSSING FOLDERS are perfect for this technique. And the MINI-DIE-CUT machine was designed for little projects like this.

Keep it simple and elegant by scoring your layering edges using your SIMPLY SCORED SCORING TOOL. It’s very subtle…but makes a difference! And — it’s simple!

Simple FUN with WOBBLES

Keep it simple and add extra FUN by just adding a WOBBLE to an image. The WOBBLE really animates your card and it’s often unexpected. It’s easy and doesn’t add any extra bulk for mailing. Lastly, it’s the best embellishment for KID cards…but don’t rule out adults as well!

Basic Directions and Dimensions:

Tombstone Treat Boxes are die cut using the TASTEFUL LABEL die
Add GOLD SHIMMER VELLUM cut 2.5″x3″ with TEAR TAPE
Adhere adhesive from the MULTI-PURPOSE ADHESIVE SHEET to the back of the BLACK GLITTER PAPER and die cut your spooky tree from BEAUTIFUL TREE dies.
Die cut BAT from the SPARKLE OF THE SEASON Bundle
Use Whisper White and with BLACK EMBOSSING POWDER stamp the SKULL from the CUTEST HALLOWEEN stamp set and fussy cut out (use RED RHINESTONES for the eyes).
Use PUMPKIN PIE card stock to stamp your sentiment
Adhere the SKULL after cutting a small piece of METALLIC MESH RIBBON to the back with DIMENSIONALS.

Cutest Halloween Gift Bags and Tags

Here’s a fast tutorial for making GIFT BAGS using 6″x6″ DSP (Cutest Halloween and Beautifully Penned DSP (FREE with a $50 purchase during SALE-A-BRATION) card stock.

Create easy tags using the Cutest Halloween stamp set and Tailor Made Tags Dies with the Metallic Mesh and Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon.

Tailored Made Tags Dies

Arrange the Tailor Made Tags on one piece of 8.5″ x 11″ card stock to yield 11 tags for gift giving or embellishing your gift bags. Below the card stock is cut to 6″ to fit your DIE CUT MACHINE to cut 8 tags. The remaining card stock will cut 3 tags for 11 total.

The die-cut tags add a finished look to any project.

Place on die cutting plates and hold in place with POST ITs or WASHI TAPE.

I love the smooth edging from the die-cut tags. However, I found the holes too small for practical use. I used a HALF CIRCLE PUNCH to create a larger hole for the ribbon

Easy Gift Bags

WHAT YOU NEED: Use 2 sheets of coordinating 6″x6″ paper. Preferably Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin’ Up!’s vast assortment. And a SCORE BOARD.

Here is the pattern will all the dimensions for scoring and cutting both sheets. I have identified the direction for scoring and cutting to accommodate any direction-dependent pattern DSP “pattern top”.
