Let’s “make a card – send a card” and Banish the Dark Ages!

Spread the love!

Over the holidays, I completed 120 cards for deployed troops to help banish the Dark Ages!

The period after the holidays and before Easter is known as the “dark ages” to the military. Simply because there is nothing to look forward to after all the holiday festivities have passed. It can be a tough time when you are on deployment away from home.

So, my wonderful teammate,  Kathryn M. and I wanted to focus on this particular time and were fortunate enough to have a contact that provided us the permission to send cards to a deployed group. We collaborated, giving our design much thought. We wanted something festive like “winter wishes”.

The card front is made of various patterned foil Designer Card Stock you may recognize. Since I couldn’t produce a “winter wishes” stamp at my fingertips…I improvised and created the centerpiece as a round paper medallion stamped with the seasonal sentiments, “Peace, Joy & Love”, “Peace and Happiness”, “believe”, and “Joy to the World” (from ITTY BITTY CHRISMAS & MEMORIES OF HOME) to capture a sense optimism for the new year.

However, the inside is our favorite!!! Both Kathryn and I choose “THE GANG’S ALL MEER” from the Sale-a-bration brochure! We added a simple greeting and letting them know “we’re here for you”…which sums it up nicely! IT BROUGHT SMILES TO OUR HEARTS!

I hope you enjoy our winter project and it brought a smile to your heart! And don’t forget that Sale-a-bration lasts until 31 March! Leave a comment and thanks for stopping by!
