Life can sometimes bring unexpected challenges. When a friend is recovering from surgery, a heartfelt get-well card can be a source of comfort and joy.

I’m excited to share a creative project that’s perfect for lifting the spirits of someone special. I will be crafting beautiful get-well cards inspired by the whimsical Hot Air Balloon bundle. I will also be using the standing easel card pattern. This combination is sure to make your card a standout piece that will be treasured.

I feature coordinating products to include some that may be retired. This is in response to many of you who have asked for ideas that utilize both new and retired Stampin’ Up! products.

5″ x 5 1/2″ Standing Easel Card

Create a Stand-Up Easel Card

The 5″ x 5 1/2″ standing easel card is ideal for this project. When opened and set as an easel, the Acetate / Window Sheet background cut using the Spotlight on Nature Dies creates a captivating effect. It creates the illusion that the balloons appear to float off the card!

Tips for Success:

  • Color Coordination: Use a color wheel to help you choose colors that complement each other and create a harmonious look.
  • Layering: Don’t be afraid to add layers to your card. Layered clouds, banners, and other elements can add depth and interest.
  • Practice Makes Perfect: If you’re new to the standing easel card pattern, practice on a scrap piece of paper first to get the folds and cuts just right.

Creating get well cards with the Hot Air Balloon bundle and the standing easel card pattern is a wonderful way to show your friends that you care. Each card you make is a unique piece of art that will brighten their day and provide a little extra comfort as they recover.

Incorporate Retired Elements:

By combining new and retired products, you can create a truly unique card that showcases the best of both worlds. This approach not only highlights the versatility of your craft room but also ensures that your creations are one-of-a-kind and deeply personal. You will also see that I incorporated some left-over cardstock from a Paper Pumpkin kit…so don’t let anything go to waste!

Final Thoughts

I hope this project inspires you to dig into your stash and experiment with combining new and retired Stampin’ Up! products. Crafting is all about creativity and connection, and by mixing different elements, you can create beautiful, meaningful projects that bring joy to both you and the recipient. Happy crafting!
