A Stroll Along Magnolia Lane

Living in the south you can’t venture far without being in view of these stately trees and the beauty of their large milky blooms. Since I have several Gem Magnolia trees in my yard– I can attest that Stampin’ Up! did an excellent job capturing their beauty and regal essence. The earthy color palette (Mossy Meadow, Early Espresso, So Saffron & Petal Pink) and patterns from both the DSP and coordinating Memories and More (M&M) kits and card packs are equally versatile as they are elegant. Turn them over and the patterns play well for masculine card making. The kraft paper cards and envelops are perfect for masculine cards as well. Great versatility.

This was the first product suite purchase I made after I watched these products demonstrated in Charlotte during Stampin’ Up’s ON STAGE (as evidenced by my earlier BLOG post where I featured the magnolia wreath) so I wanted to feature more projects. The VIDEO below not only showcases the products; but includes the steps for creating the flowers and tips for how I assembled several cards as well.

VIDEO DEMONSTRATES ASSEMBLY
Used the VELLUM over a Magnolia Lane Large M&M Card (Cards and Envelopes); Stamped the Magnolia in Memento Black in and colored with Stampin’ Blends and cut-out with my die cutting machine using the Magnolia Memory Dies. The sentiment is stamped on a label from the Magnolia Lane M&M Card Pack.
I used more of the M&M cards against Early Espresso layer for my magnolia bloom. Also added is a VELLUM piece (cut out using the same die) that adds a little interest to the composition. It seemed too flat otherwise. Lastly a double bow of twine added just enough accent without being too busy. Let me know what you think!

I made a mistake on one of my Kraft Cards from the kit…so I just turned it over and stamped the magnolia, colored with Watercolor Pencil and cut out using the dies. I love how the WHITE pencil really adds depth and dimension to the flower.

Stamps/Dies: Good Morning Magnolia and Magnolia Memory Dies Card Stock/DSP: Piece of kraft paper from the Magnolia Lane Cards & Envelop used to stamp the magnolia. A piece of envelope liner paper from the same. Mossy Meadow CS cut with the STORY LABEL Punch and embossed with white lettering from the stamp set. Mossy Meadow and Vellum CS to cut leaves with the dies.
Kits/M&M: Magnolia Lane Cards & Envelopes
Ink/Coloring Tools: StazOn, Watercolor Pencils in White, Mossy Meadow and So Saffron.

EASY and FAST! The only stamping was the sentiment in Versamark and setting the White embossing powder with a Heat Tool. The Cut the smaller magnolia buds from the DSP using the dies. So easy!
