Unlock Your Creativity with the Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Painting Kit
If you love the beauty of hand-painted artwork but want an easy way to achieve that look, the Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Painting Kit is the perfect solution! This kit brings a stunning watercolor aesthetic to your projects, and when paired with watercolor pencils or Stampin’ Blends, the results are truly breathtaking. Today, I’m showcasing how you can elevate this kit using a vibrant color palette and the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack for a gorgeous set of handmade cards. Please refer to my VIDEO TUTORIAL to guide you on color application, blending and card making.
Color Palette & Inspiration
For this project, I wanted to highlight the rich colors available both in the KIT as well as in the Annual Catalog for watercolor pencils and Stampin’ Blends. Vibrant colors such as Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Berry Burst, Flirty Flamingo, and Melon Mambo combination for the flowers, complemented by Granny Apple Green, Garden Green and Old Olive for the leaves. These shades create a vibrant yet harmonious balance, perfect for bringing out the depth and beauty of the stamped images. I have listed all the colors used for each example in the GALLERY below.
Option 1: Watercoloring with Watercolor Pencils
For a soft, painterly effect, I used watercolor pencils to add color to the stamped images. Here’s how:
- Base Layer: Select a LIGHT hue as the base color. Then color the stamped image with watercolor pencils, applying soft strokes for even coverage.
- Shadow Layer: Select a darker color to add shadows around folds, or edges to adde depth. Press down on the pencil to apply more pigment to the paper.
- Blend with Water: Use a water painter or a damp brush to blend the pigment, creating a smooth, watercolor effect.
- Layer for Depth: Once dry, you always have the option add more color and re-blend to deepen shadows and highlights.
- Final Touches: Let the image dry completely before assembling your card.
Option 2: Coloring with Stampin’ Blends
For a bold and vibrant look, I used Stampin’ Blends markers to enhance the images. Here’s my process:
- Base Layer: Start with the lightest shade of Stampin’ Blends and color the entire stamped image.
- Add Shadows: Use a darker marker to apply shading in areas where shadows would naturally fall.
- Blend for Smoothness: Go back with the lighter marker to blend the colors and create seamless transitions.
- Highlight Details: Add finishing touches with the Color Lifter to create highlights and depth.
Creating Stunning Cards with the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack
I selected BASIC WHITE and BASIC WHITE for my base card and layering elements. The neutral theme is the perfect background to showcase the colorful images. The Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack is the perfect finishing touch! Here’s how I incorporated it:
- Layering Elements: I combined ephemera pieces with my stamped and colored images to build dimension and texture.
- Sentiment Highlights: The pre-printed sentiments saved time while keeping the designs cohesive and elegant.
- Embellishments & Details: I added a few enamel dots and ribbon accents to tie everything together.
Final Thoughts
The Nature’s Painting Kit makes it easy to create artistic, hand-painted designs while still allowing for customization. Whether you prefer the soft elegance of watercolor pencils or the bold vibrancy of Stampin’ Blends, you can craft stunning, unique cards with ease.
