As the air turns crisp and the colors of fall surround us, there’s no better time to create something cozy and beautiful. In my latest YouTube tutorial, I build on my last tutorial and take these products to the next level. I am sharing how to turn simple die-cut leaves into richly textured, gold-embossed works of art using the Gathering Together Suite Collection from Stampin’ Up!

🌾 Featured Products

This project highlights the Gathering Together Suite Collection, a stunning mix of autumn textures, warm tones, and intricate leaf motifs. Here’s what I used:

  • Gathering Moments Stamp Set – for elegant gold-embossed sentiments and detailed leaf accents
  • Gathering Together Dies – perforated and layered leaf designs perfect for coloring and texturing
  • Basic White, Basic Beige, or Very Vanilla Cardstock – as your base canvas
  • Rustic Harvest DSP (Retired) – adds nostalgic fall charm
  • Early Espresso, Old Olive, Cajun Craze, and Crushed Curry Inks – for rich, earthy blends
  • Linen Thread (Early Espresso & Old Olive) and Gold Twisted Thread – 34″ each for lacing each leaf using a darning or large embroidery needle. Refer to my recent video for tips on lacing and color selection.
  • Irregular Weave Trim, Cajun Craze Gold Dots, and Gold Foil – for warm shimmer and texture

✂️ Project Dimensions & Layers

Here’s how to cut and layer your pieces for the perfect fall card composition:

  • Base Card: Basic White, Basic Beige, or Very Vanilla – 5.5″ x 4.25″ each.
  • First Layer: Rustic Harvest DSP (Retired), Early Espresso, or Gold Foil – 5.25″ x 4″ each.
  • Second Layer: Embossed using the 3D embossing folder from the Gathering Together Collection in Old Olive, Early Espresso, or Vellum – 5″ x 3.75″ each.
  • Trim: Irregular Weave Trim – cut 3.75″.
  • Sentiment: “Gather” heat embossed in Gold Embossing Powder on Basic Black Cardstock.
  • Embellishments: Cajun Craze Gold Dots (or any sparkle gems from your craft stash for extra shine)

🍁 Coloring the Leaves

To bring your fall leaves to life:

  1. Cut leaves from Basic White Cardstock using the Gathering Together Dies.
  2. Color using Early Espresso, Old Olive, Cajun Craze, and Crushed Curry inks on a Size “F” Acrylic Block. Lightly spritz with water before pressing the leaves into the blended ink for a watercolor effect.
  3. Dry with the RANGER “HEAT IT” Craft Tool or let air dry for a soft, natural transition between colors.
  4. Stamp & Emboss details using the Gathering Moments stamp set and Gold Embossing Powder.
  5. Add Texture by lacing linen threads (Early Espresso, Old Olive Linen, and Gold Twisted) — about 34 inches total — to weave through your leaves.

💡 Crafting Tip

Vary your cardstock finishes! Mix matte (Old Olive), glossy (Gold Foil), and semi-transparent (Vellum) layers for depth and sophistication. The play of textures mimics the beauty of real autumn leaves.
