🎃 Second Place Ribbon at the New Mexico State Fair with the Scenic Pumpkin Patch Stamp Set!
I am beyond excited to share that a recent creation using Stampin’ Up!’s Scenic Pumpkin Patch stamp set earned me a Second Place Ribbon in the Rubber Stamping Division at the New Mexico State Fair! This project was a true labor of love, combining stamp, ink, and paper to create a heartwarming autumn scene that captures the essence of the fall season.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons, and the Scenic Pumpkin Patch stamp set perfectly encapsulates the warm, cozy feeling of pumpkin fields and that crisp autumn air. The variety of scenic elements in this set inspired me to craft a composition that celebrates the harvest season in a truly unique way.
Using only stamp, ink, and paper, I aimed to showcase the versatility of the Scenic Pumpkin Patch set, while letting the natural beauty of fall colors shine. Here’s how I brought the scene to life:
- Stamping: The details in the pumpkin stamps are so intricate that they add texture and depth to the entire scene. I layered multiple pumpkins to give the composition a realistic look. You can use masking techniques to add dimension by adding extra rows of pumpkins. My sentiment for both front and inside are from a stamp set “VERY BEST OCCASIONS”.
- Inking: For the color palette, I chose rich autumn tones—Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Wild Wheat, Balmy Blue, Copper Clay, Early Expresso, Garden Green and Mossy Meadow. I used the Stampin’ Up! inks and adding shadows and highlights for a more dynamic feel using Stampin’ Blends Crumb Cake in LIGHT.
- Paper: I used Basic White cardstock cut two @ 5.5″x4.25″. The quality of Stampin’ Up! cardstock always amazes me—it’s sturdy and holds ink beautifully, making it the perfect base for such a detailed scene.
- Assembly: The card is layered with Crushed Curry Cardstock at 5.25″ x 4″ after the inked image was cut down to 5″ x 3.75″. The base card was Early Expresso.
The pumpkins are the stars of this project, but I also focused on adding subtle background details that truly made the scene pop. The open field, soft clouds, and a fence to create a peaceful, inviting autumnal landscape.
Winning Second Place
I was thrilled to receive recognition for my work, especially among such talented artists. Winning second place in the Rubber Stamping Division at the New Mexico State Fair was an honor, and it reinforced how much I love creating with Stampin’ Up! products.
If you’re ready to create your own fall-inspired masterpieces, refer to my video TUTORIAL and here are a few tips to get you started:
- Use Masking Techniques: This allows you to create layered scenes without overlapping stamps. Start by stamping the objects in the foreground first, then mask them off before stamping background elements.
- Blend Ink for Depth: When creating a scenic composition, ink color is key to adding depth and shadow. Use a COLOR WHEEL to choose your complementary colors.
- Play with Textures: Don’t be afraid to experiment with different types of paper. Textured cardstock or even vellum can add a unique touch to your project.
