Spread the love!

This week I sat down and had fun with the EASTER FRIENDS stamp set. I love the line art that lends itself to easy coloring using watercolor pencils and metallic watercolor paints. View my VIDEO TUTORIAL for all the steps and enjoy the gallery of cards listed below.

All base cards are the standard 5.5″x4.25″, the layers are either 5.25″x 4.25″ or have been die cut using the RECTANGLE STITCHED FRAMELITS (using graduated sizes) and the SCALLOPED CONTOURS DIES. The image is stamped with BLACK STAZON INK on either Watercolor Paper or Shimmery White card stock using the Stamparatus since it guarantees a perfect image every time. All these products are available on my ONLINE STORE.

While I demonstrate how to use watercolor pencils and “my favorites” metallic watercolor paint; I also demonstrate how I choose the background layers to coordinate nicely with the final images. Lastly, check out my FAVORITE PRODUCTS link below to purchase the Metallic Watercolors, gel pens, shadow accent pens, and masking POST IT notes as well as other great crafting tools.

Hope you enjoy it…please leave a comment!

Watercolor pencils – Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo, and Flirty Flamingo using the Water Painters. The background layers are created using strips of 1″ DSP from the SUNSHINE & RAINBOWS paper pack. The grass is stamped with Pear Pizzaz ink on Watercolor Paper. Black & White Gingham ribbon adds the perfect accent.
Watercolor Pencils – Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso on Shimmery White cardstock. The background layer is Brushed Metallic cardstock using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and Bumblebee cardstock with BB gingham ribbon.
Using the METALLIC Watercolor paints with a Water Painter — sparkling champagne, shiny copper, and metallic black are used to create an image that catches the light and shimmers. The card stock used is Shimmery White cardstock which is perfect for watercolor. The base card is Highland Heather CS and layered with Silver Foil cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.
Watercolor Pencils – Balmy Blue and Pacific Point on Shimmery White Card Stock. The background is Basic Black CS and a piece of DSP from the Sunshine & Rainbow DSP in Flirty Flamingo with coordinating ribbon. The grass is stamped with Shaded Spruce ink.

More Ideas…

This was my first bunny — a champagne bunny using the Metallic Watercolor paints on Shimmery white CS. I used the Scalloped Contours Dies and threaded the Bumblebee Gingham for accents. Pear Pizzaz is used to stamp the grass and then any sparkling embellishments give it extra pop. It really shimmers in the sun.
Get adventurous — I used BLACK WATERCOLOR PAPER embossed the image with GOLD embossing powder and then used metallic watercolor paints for a different look.
