With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to bring out the spooky fun and start crafting for the season! Today, I’m excited to share a magical project using Stampin’ Up!’s Potions & Spells Bundle to create a Caldron Shaped Swivel Top Treat Box—perfect for gifting sweet treats or using as festive table decor. This project brings together both creativity and practicality, making it ideal for your Halloween crafting adventures.

How to Use the Swivel Top Treat Box

This Caldron Shaped Swivel Top Treat Box isn’t just for looks—it’s functional too! Fill the hidden compartment under the swivel lid with small candies or spooky surprises. These treat boxes make perfect party favors or fun additions to your Halloween décor. Your guests will love the interactive element, and you’ll enjoy the ease of assembly.

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Potions & Spells Bundle (stamp set, coordinating dies)
  • Basic Black cardstock (for the cauldron)
    • Using the cauldron DIE cut 2 for LID and BOTTOM
  • Basic White cardstock (for the box)
    • Cut 8 1/4″ x 4″ (score @ 2″, 4″, 6″, 8″ on the 8.25″ side)
      • Turn to the 4″ (score @ 2″ & 3″)
      • Cut as demonstrated on the VIDEO
    • Cut 3 7/8″ x 1″ (for the swivel mechanism)
      • Score @ 1″, 3″ along the 3 7/8″ side
      • Turn and score at 1/2″ along the 1″ side
  • Granny Apple Green cardstock
    • Die cut 2 using the “drip” die and glue both together
  • Designer Series Paper Cardboard (the piece from any DSP package to be used for the base and lid)
    • Using the cauldron DIE cut four (4) for each box each.
    • Glue 2 pieces together for both the base & lid
  • Designer Series Paper (to cover the side of the boxes)
    • Cut 1″ x 8 3/4″ and score along the long side @ 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″
  • Brads (for the swivel top mechanism)
  • Metallic Embossing Powder (Silver embossing powder for the sentiment on the lid).
  • Wink of Stella (add shimmer to the Granny Apple cardstock)
  • Glue & Tear Tape
  • Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Piercing tool

Decorate with Potions & Spells Bundle Elements

Now for the fun part—decorating the cauldron with elements from the Potions & Spells Bundle. Use the Potion Bottles and stamps to create your lid. Stamp a sentiment and emboss with silver embossing powder. Or for more fun….explore your local craft store for spooky wobble & goggly eyes as another option.

Crafting Tips

  • Use Memento Black Ink & a Foam Dauber to color the white edges of your box & base so that it flows nicely with the black cauldron theme.
