I was challenged by one of my special friends/customer/hobbyist to create a shaker card with the Charming Cafe Bundle which is available in the 2018 Occasions Catalog (OC).  Now, I found shaker cards a challenge when I was learning.  The most difficult part was finding the right amount of adhesive products (and I was using the edges/borders of my Dimensionals) to build a shaker card.  I would save them and when I had enough; then I could make a shaker card and feature it in a workshop.   Then, Paper Pumpkin came out with a couple of projects that featured a shaker card and included these great adhesive strips!  Wow!  I collected all the extras from my old kits!

Finally, SU came up with these strips and I have to say that the SU Adhesive Strips is the game changer for making shaker cards!  It makes it easy, convenient, and fast!

I purchased one pack for $8 and am still using the same pack!  These are long lasting and a great value.  Definitely consider adding them to your stamping “tool box”.   If you have ever considered a Paper Pumpkin subscription; I would encourage it…I have gotten more good product “perks” from those kits and come in handy.  It’s like double the value.  They always give you enough to create the project with extra…like the adhesive strips.   Just sayin’….

I haven’t found anyone feature a shaker card with the Charming Cafe bundle…but I loved how it came out (though the letter is a bit crooked..: ( ….

Lavender holds a very special connection for me.  It looked like a weed…but when my mother  reached down and stripped the buds from the ugly stalk and the held the crushed essence to my nose as young girl…I was hooked.

In fact, while visiting my Navy BFF in Northern California many years ago  (I know she will attest to this) as we were driving around I looked out the window, shouted for her to “stop” and I jumped out of her car to strip lavender buds from a bush growing on the side of the road there in Marin County.  I crushed them in my hand and inhaled their perfume…felt like home.  She thought I was nuts.

You see…I am a loyal and plodding Taurus (the Bull)….so flights of fancy are not my suite.  So, she REALLY thought I was crazy…but to my defense — I was visiting from Guam where orchids and not lavender are found.  I related my childhood remembrance to her and perhaps admitted to some homesickness that only this scraggly bush could abate.  Since then, friends and family have never forgotten to slip a small Lavender sachet or a tube of hand creme as a “care package” when I am visiting or have lived in those climates where my lavender hunting would be for naught.  “Find any there?”  “No.”    With that I am ever so grateful… and ….which is why…Lavender makes me smile…it represents a mother’s  love and cherished  friendships.

This stamp set is very versatile since it lends itself to several techniques.  I enjoyed playing with with this set.  For example, I used reverse embossing (white) with BRUSHO,  colored and blended with STAMPIN’ BLENDS and then 2-step stamped using the photopolymer stamps included in the set.  Each one holds it’s own sense of beauty in  my mind.

This is so easy.  I used SWEET SUGAR PLUM and PEAR PIZAZZ to stamp this using the 2-step stamps.  When you compare the same with the Stampin’ Blends…there really isn’t much of a difference!

Here I stamped with MOMENTO Black ink on Whisper White and colored with the STAMPIN’ BLENDS.  The ribbon is SWEET SUGARPLUM and the EMBOSSING FOLDER is the PETAL PAIR TEXTURED IMPRESSIONS available in the New Occasions Catalog.

I mixed my BRUSHO (RED and BLUE) to create this Lavender color that I painted on WATER COLOR Paper embossed with WHITE embossing powder.  I liked the ethereal effect.  I struggled a little with how to set it off to best advantage.  I may of over-did it here; but I used RICH RAZZLEBERRY base card (5.5″X 4.25″), WHISPER WHITE ORGANZA RIBBON, one of the masks from the SWEET SOIREE DECORATIVE MASKS and the CELEBRATE YOU THINLITS DIES and a piece of VELLUM.

This card was created by a member of my team, K. Murray.  She created a gorgeous card using BERRY BURST 3/8″ METALLIC EDGE RIBBON, BERRY BURST CARD STOCK and SWEET SOIREE DSP.
